Hairline
In graphics, usually refers to the thickness of a rule (line). A hairline
is a very thin rule.
In printing, it may be used to refer to
how close two elements are to each other or how close the registration will
be on press.
Halftone
Noun: Refers to a continuous-tone image (such as a photograph) that has been converted into dots that can be printed to simulate the continuous tone.
Verb: The process of converting a continuous-tone image into a halftone image consisting of dots.
